One of the most recent internet trends involves users usurping the covers from the late 20th century children’s classic series Little Miss and Mr. Men to call out their unique (or not so unique) personality traits and insecurities in a mega-viral trend spanning, Instagram, TikTok, and even Twitter.

What Are Little Miss Memes?

The recent trend consists of editing and recaptioning the covers of the Mr. Men and Little Miss books, which featured characters like Little Miss Naughty and Mr. Happy, to create more specific and hyper-personalized characterizations for the recognizable figures. People are using them to highlight their prescription medications (Little Miss Lexapro), their cafe orders (Little Miss Brown Sugar Milk Tea With Boba), their most egregious ADHD symptoms (Little Miss Forgets To Eat), their favorite shows, celebrities (Mr. Worldwide) and more. The meme has also trickled onto TikTok, where users are posting the illustrations to call out past boyfriends, shed some light on their professions, and roast their friends.

Where Did The Little Miss Memes Start?

The Know Your Meme blog attributes the very first Little Miss meme to Tumblr user notyourgaybestie, who posted “Little Miss Smokes Too Much Weed” in June of 2021. But it was Instagram user @juulpuppy who set the stage for the current trend, posting a carousel of new memes in April of 2022. From there, celebrities, brands, and the everyday IG users alike jumped on the bandwagon, referencing their favorite characters or calling themselves—and their friends, exes, or consumers, etc.—out for anything from a gently toxic trait (Little Miss Sleeps With Makeup On) to an incident that’s probably better left forgotten (Mr. Banned From Uber). #LittleMiss has over 375 thousand posts on Instagram and almost 60 million views on TikTok, and has trickled into Twitter, as well. Imagery is less popular on that platform, but the point comes across just the same. The trend has been going strong for several weeks now, but Olympic medalist Simone Biles finally joined in on the massive tea spills with a vague comment about her Olympic experience.  “Little Miss traumatized by her Olympic experience,” she tweeted, likely in reference to several traumas she was forced to endure during her time preparing and competing.  Next: Dancing With Horace: Everything To Know About The Viral TikTok Trend
